The DeRose Method Proposes Behavioural Re-education to Increase Vitality, Manage Stress and Gain Focus

Systematised by Professor DeRose over 50 years, this method is practiced all over the world, and aims to transform the worlds of those who practice.

Systematised by Professor DeRose over 50 years of teaching quality of life, the DeRose Method was first used in 2007 in Paris. From there, it was developed in the English-speaking world (United States, England and Scotland) and arrived in Brazil, as a brand, in 2008. It comprises of a complete programme for increasing vitality, managing stress and gaining focus. Its application promotes an increase in productivity and high performance in life.

The Method proposes behavioural re-education with a focus on good human relationships and other related concepts. The DeRose Method aims to make people happier, more refined, more civilised and more cultured, even improving language and manners.

“At the beginning, the student spends time becoming familiar with the techniques. Later, they assimilate our behavioural philosophy. Initially, we work on breathing re-education, organic techniques, concentration exercises and stress management. Later, as the practitioner becomes more engaged, they advance to practice the Method itself, at which point they come into contact with the behavioural concepts which will change their lives,” affirms Professor DeRose.

The behavioural concepts cited by Professor DeRose are transmitted via spending time together during cultural and social activities proposed as part of the Method. Said activities include study sessions, reading groups, film screenings, tasting events, courses, parties, walks, trips, concerts, exhibitions, dinners, theatre outings and many others.

“It is important to emphasise that our work does not focus on benefits, and the DeRose Method is not intended to be used as therapy. Any positive outcomes in terms of physical or emotional health are mere consequences lifestyleof adopting a healthy lifestyle or philosophy of life,” points out Professor DeRose.

Being practiced all over the world, the DeRose Method includes modalities that can be adapted to the needs of each student. One such modality is the DeRose Method for Companies, which specifically focusses on addressing the needs of business managers, directors and executives.

“In these echelons, we find the right environment for teaching not only techniques to develop breathing, awareness, concentration, intuition, flexibility, better posture and emotional relaxation, but also we feel there is greater receptivity to what we are trying to transmit via our Culture, namely conflict administration, stress management, improved human relationships and cultivation of quality of life, all of which results in the optimisation of productivity in a way that is sustainable,” explains the systematiser of the method.

Concepts are transmitted via dialogue, suggested reading and cultural activities, such as talks, meet-ups for tasting events or outings including visits to exhibitions, concerts and vernissages. Depending on the school, consultants are available who can impart classes in different languages.

Another modality of learning we offer is DeRose Method Private Classes, which are a convenient option for those with busy schedules or who desire greater privacy. This is the ideal modality for business people, people in positions of authority, politicians, actors, celebrities as well as frequent travellers.

The international diversity of the DeRose Method means that we have the capacity to offer classes in the language the practitioner desires: Portuguese, Spanish, French, English, Italian, German, Finnish, Hebrew, Arabic and Catalan. What’s more, we have instructors who are able to administer private sessions in any city in the world, either online or by accompanying the student as they travel, be it for business or pleasure.

As the systematiser of the method explains, the final objective is to change the world. “Not the world itself, but the world we move through; each of our individual worlds. Each person comes into contact with dozens, sometimes hundreds of people in their universe. Comprising relatives, friends, clients and suppliers, neighbours and even those who work in the establishments we frequent regularly. It’s in this world that we’ve had success instigating real change,” concludes Professor DeRose.
